Wedding Tips

One of my favorite traditions for brides are bridal portraits! They’re such a special memory for brides and a great way to capture all of the little details that make your bridal look, well, YOU! Although we always make time for portraits of the bride (and groom!) on your wedding day, a bridal session is a great way to take some of the stress out of that morning and spend some time just celebrating being a bride. So let’s talk more today about why I love bridal portraits and what they’re like!

What are bridal portraits?

Bridal portraits are simply a portrait session for the bride. Brides usually wear their wedding gown, shoes, and accessories – like a veil for these portraits. And oftentimes, they’ll use this session as a chance to triral their hair and makeup. Many brides even bring replicates of their wedding bouquets! Bridal portraits are about capturing all of those little details. Like I mentioned, it’s not that we won’t on your wedding morning – but it makes it way less stressful when we have a dedicated session to capture all of your bridal look. And that’s the whole reason we’re there.

When do I do bridal portraits?

Once your dress has gone through it’s final fitting, it’s time to have your session! There’s no right or wrong time to have one. Sometimes brides like to have a portrait displayed at their celebrations, so that’s probably the biggest consideration after your gown’s timeline.

Tell me more! What do I bring and where do we have my session?

The rest of the planning is totally up to you! If you’d like to bring a friend or family member to help you prepare, hold your bouquet, and be moral support – I’m all for it! Many brides bring their moms and sisters with them. I’ve also had brides bring their furry family members, which is always a nice way to include them if you can’t have them with you on your wedding day. Otherwise, bring your bridal accessories and anything that’s important to you. These are meant to truly celebrate what it means to be a bride!

One of the reasons I love bridal sessions is because it’s time to just celebrate and relax amidst all of the wedding planning stress. Take the time to breathe and enjoy something all about you – get pampered, slide on that gown and just smile. This is for you!!
