Italian Inspired Microwedding Styled Shoot

bride and groom touch foreheads in gardens during Italian inspired microwedding

It’s hard to believe that for almost a year, we’ve had to limit who we celebrate our special moments with and avoided traveling. This fall, the brilliant Ally Lopez Events, a Baltimore MD wedding planner, created this elegant Italian inspired styled shoot that allowed us to dream of warmer days and relaxed getaways! Planned and photographed in Old Town Alexandria (not Italy, unfortunately!), this gorgeous Italian Inspired microwedding styled shoot brought together some incredible vendors in the DMV area to inspire us and brides alike! I’m so grateful I was able to attend this beautiful styled shoot – and now, share it with you.

Italian Inspired Microwedding Styled Shoot

Located in Old Town Alexandria, the Rectory on Princess had the Italian flare we were looking for when we planned this shoot. We wanted to bring some sophistication and energy into the idea of a microwedding. Weddings and events are likely going to be downsized for a bit longer. And often, couples worry that their days won’t be as special or full of detail. But we want to remind you: even your smaller events can have tons of personality and character. Perhaps even more so than you originally planned (thanks to a smaller guest count for your budget!).

For this styled shoot, we brought the colors of Capri to the US – including the relaxed blues and yellows of the lemon trees. With bright colors and the elegant atmosphere of the Rectory’s courtyard, it felt like we were stepping into an Italian patio for the afternoon. Our models, a real life couple, Ashley and Joe helped us bring the rest of the session to life.

With an elegant dress, Ashley lit up the gardens of the Rectory and Joe just beamed when he got the chance to see her in a wedding dress! He looked dashing too, in a simple navy suit with a bright boutineere. And with a bright, colorful bouquet from J Morris Flowers, Ashley brought even more color into the setup! Everything was just stunning!

Thank you to all of the vendors who made this beautiful Italian inspired styled shoot come to life. I loved stepping into a little piece of Capri and the Italian coastline, celebrating spring. These moments remind me, as a wedding photographer, that love is not cancelled, despite everything in the world. Enjoy some of my favorite moments from this styled shoot!
