Kiara and Darryl’s engagement session in Woodbridge, Virginia has without a doubt become one of my favorite sessions ever! They are planning on getting married at Harbour View Events, also located in Woodbridge. They are getting married on the water and were very interested in having the same type of background for their engagement photos. Their wedding venue has such beautiful views! Kiara and Darryl are very excited to have couples photos taken on the pier at their wedding!

Darryl and Kiara definitely knew how to have fun during their session! They were up for any ideas I had, and they both enjoyed staying active throughout the entire photo shoot. It’s hard to imagine that this area of Prince William County would boast this type of location. When someone thinks of Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. all being connected together, the only area that comes to mind is just the downtown historical area of Washington, D.C. and the National Mall.
However, there are lots of wooded areas, lakes, and rivers that show off a beach or small town vibe, away from Washington, D.C. One of the most important jobs of being a photographer is to find the best locations for my clients. I spend time scouting out new places so when my couples share their desires, I have a long list of recommended locations.
Darryl and Kiara first met in 2017 when they were both interns at a finance department. A coworker introduced them because they were known as the “attended Alabama A&M University”. After dating for a while, Darryl proposed to Kiara in March of this year. He popped the question at their favorite restaurant, La Vie at The Wharf. He set up a igloo tent on the rooftop and even had Kiara’s best friend from Alabama fly up to be part of their special moment.
I absolutely loved taking photos of them sitting on the rocks and on the sand at Leesylvania State Park. Kiara and Darryl even ran down the shore along the water. Later on, we moved to the pier and along the boats for some pretty photos as the sun started to set. After some detail shots of their rings, Kiara and Darryl ended their session along the entrance road to the marina.
