Among their closest family and friends, Shantel and Kam exchanged views and said “I do”! Their spring wedding at The Golf Club at South River was celebrated with a fun reception full of laughter, smiles and lots of dancing! Shantel and Kam are such a unique couple. They broke tradition here and there by making sure that their wedding was done the way they wanted it.

A Unique Ceremony Filled with Love

Kam and Shantel met during their freshman year of college at Howard University. Their first date was an adventure to the Capital Hill area. They are such a cool couple who love to have a good time together. After they had been dating for a while, Kam decided to propose! They both planned a New Year’s Eve trip to Miami. This included driving all the way down from Maryland. After Shantel and Kam stopped in North Carolina to visit with Kam’s mom. they continued the remainder of the trip. When they arrived, they found that the AirBnb had not been cleaned to the owner’s surprise.

A Vacation Proposal

While they waited for the residence to be cleaned, they went shopping to pass the time. Kam and Shantel visited his aunt to make up for not being able to see her at Christmas. Once they finally were able to get back into the rented house, they moved all their stuff inside. However, instead of collapsing on the bed he asked her to sit with him on the beautifully lit patio. After saying some sweet things, he got down on one knee and asked Shantel to marry him! Of course, she said yes!

The Golf Club at South River is a beautiful venue in Annapolis, Maryland. Their clubhouse features a stone fireplace and rustic timber framing perfect for indoor wedding celebrations. This area is where Shantel and Kam had their ceremony and reception. However, one thing that they did differently was having the officiant say “Shantel, you can now kiss your groom.” This small change really embodies their dedication to always doing things their own way.

After the ceremony, the room was quickly flipped with tables and decorations for the reception. A fun fact about Shantel is that she’s Jamaican, so you know the party was live and the dance floor was full! Drinks were flowing and their wedding was such a cool and stress free day. Doing things their own way was admirable and it showed their unique personalities.
