I’m so excited to be sharing Jade and Preston’s incredible National Arboretum engagement session with you today. Their session was seriously one of my all-time favorites because they are just such an amazing couple and we had the best time!! Jade and Preston were engaged in January 2020 and tied the knot in a quiet and intimate ceremony during the pandemic. They’re going to be having a fall celebration with their family and friends in October, so we decided to capture a romantic “engagement” session for them here in DC before that second wedding day!
Their Love Story
Jade and Preston met through a mutual friend after being friends on Twitter for quite some time. At the time, they’d both been in other relationships but eventually those ended. Before long, Preston asked Jade out for a date. Jade was in Charlotte for a bridal shower and Preston came all the way down from DC to take her to dinner while she was there. They had an amazing time together overlooking the city and it felt really natural to them both. So natural, in fact, that Preston changed his flight back to DC and drove with Jade back to Atlanta before flying home from there.
In 2020, after spending a week in DC together, they had plans to have a picnic and see Diana Ross. Jade had a feeling the proposal was coming – but it never did. She flew home and began another week of work, while Preston was taking care of some bigger meetings in DC. That night, Jade was supposed to meet a friend for dinner. Before their dinner time, she headed up to the rooftop bar for a drink – only to find Preston standing there with a rose. As she walked to him, she realized their friends and family were standing there too with roses. She said hello to everyone, gathering up the roses (which wasn’t actually Preston’s plan, but that’s okay!) before Preston proposed. To top it off, he planned a getaway to Fiji for them to celebrate their engagement… he even coordinated with her work to get the time off! It was such a special surprise for Jade and now, they’ve got a lifetime ahead of them to celebrate and be together.
National Arboretum Engagement Session
For their engagement session in DC, we chose the National Arboretum. Jade wore a stunning red dress and Preston looked amazing in his suit. It was so fun to get to know them better and watch their dynamics. They’re a really fun couple and make each other laugh a LOT. But we also managed to capture some really dramatic portraits among the arboretum. I love that they brought the heat for their portraits and I had a great time with them both! I can’t wait for October to come for their wedding day!! Congratulations again Preston and Jade!!
