Congratulations, Kate and John! After all the stress of rescheduling and re-planning their Lincoln Memorial wedding day in Washington DC, they are finally married! Kate and John are some of the most relaxed and laidback people I know. They knew they wanted to be married right away after they got engaged, but something stopped them the first two times they tried. People always say the third time’s the charm, so I guess they were right! The two finally tied the knot on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and it was just beautiful. Simple, straightforward, and SO them.
How they Met…
Kate and John connected on Bumble before meeting in downtown DC for a drink. It was funny, John hadn’t been on a date in awhile so he was a bit nervous. To help, he actually had a few friends hang out in the bar to make him more comfortable. John finally let Kate know that his friends were there midway through the date and it was her turn to be nervous, but she didn’t need to be! They had such a great time… even with Kate chipping her tooth on her burger later on in the evening.
The Proposal
John told Kate that he wanted to cook dinner for her. It doesn’t happen often, but John is a great cook so Kate was just excited to see what he was going to make. John kept insisting on having their dinner on the balcony at their house, but Kate was dragging her feet. It had been hot lately but John finally managed to convince her to eat outside. After bringing out some wine and candles, John told Kate to look at something in the yard. When she turned back to him, he was on one knee. Obviously she said yes and now they’re officially married!!!
Lincoln Memorial Wedding Day
The newlyweds prepared for their Washington DC ceremony at the St. Regis before we headed to the Lincoln Memorial. John had a chance to have a first look with Kate before their ceremony. She showed off her super chic white dress and blue shoes. With the Reflecting Pool behind them, John and Kate said “I do” on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It was the perfect DC wedding for these two! Afterwards, they rode around the Potomac River to celebrate. It was lovely!
Congratulations, Kate and John! I am so excited that you’re finally married and able to start the next chapter of your life together!
