We all had so much fun at Nya and Kathy’s engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.! The Lincoln Memorial is one of the most popular places in D.C. for photo sessions! The tall white columns and symbolic meaning of this important site makes it a gorgeous location for pictures. It’s important to go really early in the day before the crowds start showing up.
A Fall Engagement in Washington, D.C.
This engagement session ended up being one of the coldest, rainiest, and windiest days of the year. However, Nya and Kathy were amazing at adapting to the crazy weather. They are both very expressive and bubbly which made their session even more fun! They both brought such great energy to their session. Nya is from Philadelphia and Kathy is originally from D.C. Each engagement session I shoot is special because of my couples’ unique personalities. I love getting to learn more about them and why they have decided to tie the knot! My favorite part of their shoot was when they were dancing to the Burna Boy’s song “Last Last”! I like when my couples include music during their photos! Capturing that kind of emotion adds so much more to their session.
The key to a successful engagement session is flexibility, energy, and style. You have to be flexible when the weather doesn’t cooperate the way you want it to, but you can’t reschedule. Bringing high energy is important because you need to be excited about taking photos with your spouse to be. Finally, showing off your own style at your session demonstrates your personality and what makes you special. Nya and Kathy were 100% themselves the entire time, and their photos reflect the fun and passion of their love for one another.
After we completed their engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial, Nya had a big surprise engagement party planned for Kathy at MGM where they are getting married in August of next year. They and I will actually have the same wedding date of August 28th!
For any newly engaged couples, planning your engagement photos at the Lincoln Memorial is always a great idea! If you are getting engaged, I love to talk more about shooting your photos here! Reach out soon so we can schedule a date in the coming months!
